Magnetic North is Canada’s only national theatre festival, and we’re proud to showcase the very best in Canadian theatre – theatre that moves us, shares our stories, interprets our history and explores how we see the world as Canadians. Magnetic North is unique among Canadian theatre festivals as it moves around the country from its home base in Ottawa to a different Canadian city every second year. We’re dedicated to presenting innovative Canadian theatre to audiences from coast to coast, which is we’ve been bringing the festival to different communities and diverse regions across the country for eleven years. Magnetic North is also proud to provide a growing forum to explore issues in Canadian theatre practice and support the growth of touring and presenting networks across Canada. We help launch Canada’s finest touring theatre across the country and into the world, providing new economic opportunities for Canadian theatre professionals to promote their wide range of talents.
