Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company is recognised one of the country’s leading dance companies and a key influence in the development of dance theatre throughout Ireland. Founded by Ursula Laeubli and Steve Batts in Amsterdam in 1991, the company relocated to Derry, Northern Ireland in 1997.

Echo Echo’s unique movement style ranges from quirky and playful to gentle and poetic, sourcing its movement material from a very wide range of contemporary dance forms and movement practices.

Echo Echo has grown in recent years to an ensemble of six dancers with a much wider pool of regular artistic collaborators both locally and internationally. Its diverse artistic programme includes new work creation, national and international touring, and site-specific performance. The company has a strong commitment to developing dance as an accessible artform maintaining a busy dance education and outreach programme for people of all ages and abilities.

In 2013, Echo Echo opened a new home in Derry city centre with two large dance studios and audience capacity of up to 100 people bringing new opportunities to host regular performances, events, and artistic residencies. Echo Echo’s annual international Festival of Dance and Movement will return for a third edition in November 2015.
