Companies

Established in 1994, Calipo Theatre Company now operates successfully on two different levels: as a theatre company and as an outreach facilitator.

As a Theatre Company, Calipo produces dynamic mixed-media theatre that is relevant to a younger audience between the ages of 17-35. To do this, the company takes a fresh approach to theatre, harnessing the energy of club culture and the stylistic approach of the movies. The Company puts great emphasis on storytelling, devising stories with actors and commissioning the country’s finest writers. As a company producing only original and devised work, the nurturing and development of new talent is an integral part of Calipo’s policy.

As an Outreach Facilitator, Calipo produces an outreach programme in mixed media and drama for school goers and early school leavers that promotes access and participation in the arts.

TOURING POLICY

Calipo aims to tour new work to suitable venues in Ireland and abroad.
