PROGRAMMING POLICY

Earagail Arts Festival is a bilingual (Irish and English language), multidisciplinary arts festival which takes place every July on the northernmost part of the Wild Atlantic Way, Co Donegal.

The festival’s 30th programme brings together new Donegal-flavoured commissions, celebratory birthday partnerships and performances by some of the much- loved artists that have graced the stages of the festival over the last 30 years.

From 7 to 29 July, 2018, we present premieres of new theatrical works inspired by the ocean that shapes our wild Atlantic shores; Spell-binding aerial dance and circus; A wealth of global music from Donegal’s finest female fiddlers to the rising stars of Africa and America in legendary Donegal venues, alongside a rich international visual arts programme.

The 2018 programme showcases talent from around the globe including Malian musicians Songhoy Blues and unique collaborations such as folk group Ulaid and renowned songwriter Duke Special.

We employ a range of venues from purpose-built theatres and galleries, to village halls and outdoor venues created for the occasion, serviced by professional technical crew and production management.

The popular Music at The Castle returns to Glenveagh National Park where our artists-in-residence, The California Feetwarmers, play their first set of the festival alongside Gweedore’s very own trad supergroup, An Crann Óg.

Based in their home village of Malin, Donegal on the Wild Atlantic Way, The Henry Girls perform two concerts during their week-long residency.

Foyle Punt is a new co-commissioned site-specific theatre piece by Earagail Arts Festival and the team who made She Knit The Roof and Destination Donut, Foyle Punt is the first project of The Local Group, a new company making unique performance projects in off-the-grid locations, bringing the best theatre and interdisciplinary performance to underserved communities in Ireland’s most rugged rural landscapes and concrete suburbia.
