Opera Theatre Company has been touring professional opera to venues throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic since 1986. The company has a reputation for bold, innovative programming with equal emphasis on new and established works, and seeks to bring together the most talented Irish and international music and theatre practitioners. Through the impact of its productions, as well as during residencies and special events, the company seeks to attract new audiences of all ages to the art form.

International appearances have included the major festivals at Buxton, Edinburgh, Melbourne and Perth as well as invitations to the Czech Republic and the Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York.

Opera Theatre Company merged with Wide Open Opera to form the Irish National Opera in 2018.
